I have been working on something new. I am still plugging away at Anais Ascendent, but I find that this new project is dominating the majority of my creative headspace. There are several problems with this.

First and foremost, I have been promising the sequel to Anais Eternal for five years, and my failure to deliver to date has been a point of contention. It is still coming, I promise! The writing is mostly done; I am just working it over before it goes off to the editor. Adding some details that were largely glossed over on previous drafts.

The next problem is that the project that I have been working on is... Hmm... How do I say this delicately... On the smuttier and darker side of anything I have ever written before. Becuase of that, I am hesitant to publish it under my own name. Considering the number of times I have been laid off in my life, I am mostly concerned that future prospective employers who Google me will find this absolutely unhinged book about two of the worst people imaginable doing filthy things to each other's bodies, and make the completely understandable decision not to hire me.

Which leads me to the third problem. If I publish it under a nom de plume, I will have to keep it completely separate from the writing I publish with my own name. To be quite honest, maintaining a second website, social media profiles, blog, etc. Building up an entirely new audience. Maintaining a second Goodreads and Amazon Author Central page- the whole kit and caboodle sounds like more work than I am likely to keep up with. I know myself well enough to know that if the mere idea of a thing sounds exhausting, the likelihood that I will actually follow through is... slim to none.

So now what am I supposed to do with this unhinged piece of fiction? The answer is, I don't have the faintest clue. For now, it's not done, so I will just keep plugging away at it and figure it out later.
